HOW TO MAKE ESSENTIAL OIL EPSOM SALTS FOR POST-RUN RECOVERY

I only discovered the wonders of Epsom salts a few years ago – and now a week doesn’t go by when I’m not chilling in the tub to help relax my muscles and loosen stiff joints. But not only does it help after a strenuous workout, it can help to draw toxins out of the body, improves the immune system, and relaxes the nervous system.

You can use it as is, putting the Epsom salt straight into the running water, or you can add in a few extra ingredients to enhance the experience.

In a bowl add 1 cup of Epsom salts, 1/4 cup of baking soda, and approximately 20 drops of your favourite essential oil*. My favourite is lavender as it’s soothing and relaxing, perfect as part of my bedtime routine; but you can add in whatever essential oil you wish to use.

Give it a good mix and decant into a sealed jar.

When it comes to your bath time, put on a candle or 2, have your favourite book on hand, and add a scoop of these delicious bath salts to running water.

Lie back and enjoy!

*Two points to note here:

1- Make sure that you use skin-friendly essential oils.

2- If you have sensitive skin like I do, make a small batch to make sure it doesn’t irritate your skin.
