We’ve all been there, on a run that just plain old sucks. Whether it’s mental or physical, it can be a struggle-train run. You could throw in the towel and walk home, but sometimes it’s […]
How is it almost the end of August already? This summer has whizzed by! The temperatures seem to be cooling down a little which I am SO thankful for. I forget each year how horrid it is to train for a half/full during the hot summer months.
This week’s guest blog is the fabulous Alexis and Terran from Parks and Perspiration. You have got to check these guys out! Not only are they serious #couplegoals, but they are raising money by running 250km around New Zealand in support of the National Parks Foundation. You can find them on Instagram and also on their website.
This guest blog of ‘Why do you run?’ is brought to you by Kim from LeatherandWeather. Find out all about how Kim got started running and what her 2020 running goal is.
I’ve been doing a few early morning solo runs recently. There is something magical about being one of the first people out in the morning. Certainly where I live, the streets are mostly quiet, except a few other runners, dog walkers, and those coming home from work/starting work early. As well as feeling AWESOME that you have completed your run before work, you are beating the heat, and there is something special knowing you are one of the few seeing that spectacular sunrise.
Here are some of the strategies I use when all I want to do is give up. If you have any others you use, please let me know.
SMILE – I find, no matter how miserable you are feeling, if you smile it can really help trick your brain into thinking that all is good.
You know how you are always told not to talk to strangers? Strangers mean danger, right? Well this week’s blog is from my buddy, Kelly. We haven’t been friends for all that long; originally I stalked her Instagram after seeing she had run the same race as me in 2016. We had a lot of similarities; did similar things; took part in the same races; went to the same locations months apart; almost went to the same conference…..it felt like the universe was pushing us together. I’d never met someone from the internet in person; I was convinced she was going to murder me….turns out, she thought the same about me! All good friendships start with the fear of murder, right? Anyways, Kelly is incredible; she has been working her butt off crushing distances and PBs. Here’s why she runs – enjoy!
This week’s blog is brought to you by my good friend Kyla aka earlybirdrunner. I first got to know/creeped on Kyla from the #RunDisney tag on Instagram; she was running the Dopey Challenge (4 races in 4 days) at Walt Disney World in January 2018 – I was running the marathon. Later on, I found out she was doing this as part of her year long birthday celebration. And since then we’ve hung out in real life, and this girl is incredible! She is so inspirational, she is a machine! Recently not only did Kyla take part in a 50km race, she came first….not first female, first OVERALL winner!!!!
Hey everyone. Hope you are having a lovely week.
This week’s guest blogger is the fabulous Jenny (fueled by cocoa). The three things I can tell you about Jenny (apart from that she is a runner!) is she always wears AMAZING running gear, she can get herself into some very impressive yoga poses, and she is by far the best I’ve ever seen at jumping and taking a photo!
