“MAKE EACH DAY COUNT BY SETTING SPECIFIC GOALS TO SUCCEED, THEN PUTTING FORTH EVERY EFFORT TO EXCEED YOUR EXPECTATIONS” – LES BROWN
Isn’t this quote by Les Brown so fricking powerful?! It’s a great reminder that moving the goal dial 1% every day will help keep you on track….and exceed your original goal!
I’d love to know, do you set yourself yearly, monthly, weekly, daily or hourly goals? If so, do you regularly exceed your expectations, meet them, or do they often fall flat?
Regardless of your goal timeframe, it’s really important to set yourself realistic expectations. Don’t set yourself up for failure by having too great expectations for that timeframe but also don’t sell yourself short either. The trick is to set yourself a timeframe that is a stretch; nothing too big to overwhelm you, nor so easy that you leave it to the last minute.
If you know my story, back in 2015 I set myself a goal of running a 5K race. I was unfit and unhealthy so this goal felt huge but totally do-able if I committed to running regularly and kept my eyes on the prize (which was the race). Well, you know what? I bloody well achieved that 5K goal in May of the same year! The following September, I ran a 10K! And in October, I ran a half-marathon!!!!! I went more than 300% above my original 2015 running goal. WTF!?!?

If your goal starts to feel overwhelming then re-evaluate your expectations OR review all the work you’ve done to date on finding your why and who/what will help keep you accountable to your dreams. Don’t know what I am talking about? Check out this and this.
Don’t make your goal(s) small to please others or because you are scared others will judge you. Go out and smash the shit out of what you want to achieve. And remember, planting seeds today won’t show results tomorrow. Keep at it. Consistency is key.
