Having good daily habits really helps set my day up for success. I do a number of things daily, but I wanted to share with you my top 10 simple habits.
Get up when the alarm goes off – don’t hit snooze, as soon as the alarm goes off I get up to start the day.
Meditate – whether this is done in the morning, afternoon or evening it’s a beneficial practice to calm my mind, even if it’s only 5 minutes.
Movement – a minimum of 30 minutes movement is recommended not only for the physical benefits but for mental health too. This could be a walk around the neighborhood, yoga, a run, stand-up paddle boarding, a hike, playing frisbee, dancing, a bike ride, playing in the park, high intensity interval training – I mix the movement up every day or 2 to keep it interesting.
Gratitude journal – write down 3-5 things from the day before that I am grateful/appreciative/happy for.
Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate – drink a glass of water on wakening to help remove toxins that have been stored in my body overnight. Continue to drink water regularly throughout the day.
Eat your greens – well, technically not just greens, eat fruits, vegetables, beans, legumes, pulses – all the good and healthy foods that will supply my body with the nutrients it needs.
Laughter – do something every day that makes me laugh.
Personal development – whether that is reading a non-fiction book, listening to a podcast, reading a blog – I do something everyday that will develop my knowledge, skills and/or confidence.
Plan the following day – spending 10 minutes in the evening getting ready for the following day can be a great time saver, whether that’s laying out clothes for the day, meal prepping, writing a to-do-list, whatever helps to make the following day go smoother.
Bed time routine – whether this is reading a book for 30 minutes, watching an ASMR video, taking a bath, or whatever I am in the mood for that day. I want to create a relaxing bedtime routine that I stick to (with the occasional exception).
Is there anything I haven’t mentioned that you do every day that contributes to you having an awesome day? If so, I’d love to hear it, please leave a comment below.
