Epsom salts are not only great at easing sore muscles after a strenuous workout, it can help to draw toxins out of the body, improves the immune system, and relaxes the nervous system.
You can use it as is, putting the Epsom salt straight into the warm running water, or you can add in a few extra ingredients to enhance the experience (and it would make a perfect DIY gift).
In a bowl add 1 cup of Epsom salts, 1/4 cup of baking soda, and approximately 20 drops of your favourite essential oil(s)*. My favourite is lavender as it’s soothing and relaxing, perfect as part of my bedtime routine. Give it a good mix and decant into a sealed jar. If it’s a gift for someone, add on a pretty ribbon and instructions along the lines of:
Put on a candle or 2, have your favourite book on hand, and add a scoop of these delicious bath salts to running water. Lie back and enjoy!
*Two points to note here:
1- Make sure that you use skin-friendly essential oils.
2- If you have sensitive skin like I do, make a small batch to test first to make sure it doesn’t irritate your skin.
